Volunteer Reception Center

Who We Are

A Volunteer Reception Center is a central location to coordinate the work of spontaneous volunteers after a disaster (such as a flood, tornado, or earthquake).

Spontaneous volunteers are people not affiliated with an organization such as the Red Cross, Medical Reserve Corps (MRC), Community Emergency Response Trained (CERT) volunteers, Southern Baptist Chainsaw Crew, Firefighters, Police, etc...

What We Do

The VRC connects spontaneous volunteers with volunteer opportunities. Volunteers register, are interviewed, receive identification, receive a safety and job orientation, and providing maps and possibly equipment or supplies.
